Born and currently residing on the Unceded Traditional Territory of the Algonquin Anishinabe Nation ‘Ottawa’, Ashley Grenstone works as a Senior Administrator for the CBC/RC and is – among many things – an advocate, a designer and an artist.
 
Her experience as a trans, intersex woman has informed her educational aspirations, consisting of +3 years within a graphic/product design program at NSCAD University; a BA in Human Rights & Social Justice from Carleton University (June 2017); and, is now working towards an MA in Human Systems Intervention.
 
Though raised apart from her indigenous roots she is retracing her ancestry, learning when to step up and when to step aside for others’ voices to lead the way. As a human rights advocate Ashley strives for 2-Spirit/Indigiqueer representation; Indigenous Peoples’ Empowerment and, towards ending the usage of children in armed conflict.
 
A small business owner of 10+ years Grenstone has been building a strong foundation of employment, contracts and commissions in preparation for expansion of her business and professional persona.
 
As a professional artist her work has shown at the Carleton University Art Gallery in ‘To Be Continued: Troubling The Queer Archive‘, Curated by Cara Tierney and Anna Shah Hoque;  ‘Queer Landscapes Queer Intersections‘ in the John B Aird Gallery, TO; the online publication ‘These Pills Don’t Come In Our Colour’; to name a few.
