New Work, New Responsibility

Beginning in mid June 2019 I had the amazing opportunity to work with Northern Youth Abroad. Over a period of 6.5 weeks myself and two other Project Leaders facilitated the introduction of post secondary opportunities to 13 participants under NYA’s ‘Next’ program. It was an amazing time and working with these students changed my life for the better. I learned a lot about the north, about each participant, and about myself.

Following this I began a new job at Carleton University within the Centre for Indigenous Initiatives. I am now the Indigenous recruitment officer and my responsibility and role includes traveling with the Aboriginal Post Secondary Information Program (APSIP) and directing inquiries from indigenous students to the answers and resources they seek.

I’m looking forward to using my role to increase indigenous student representation on Campus and to fight for accessibility and gender inclusive spaces.

I totally designed the following ad 😉
